ABANDONED IN AMERICA :SITUATION CRITICAL

Today is Sunday September 4, 2005

Day 7 of this Disaster: DEATH BY KATRINA'S WRATH AND NOW FEMA'S APATHY

Please read the letter to Mr.Bush from Saturday, I am submitting it to many sources, here and
abroad. I encourage that all of us, especially bloggers write far and wide so that the world can see that
we are ANGRY with how this Catastrophe was mishandled and neglected. We as a People, can not tolerate any more lies or Apathy. It is time for the Charade of "Conservative Compassion" to end. The People of the South need to
know that we are angry and want to help care for them. And that we NEVER want to see America goes through
This Hell again. The Survivors of Katrina who are now refugees are courageous, and we owe them better,
and more. The Federal Government and Leadership failed thousands. The Coast Guard and Fish and Wildlife
who saved thousands are the real heroes. And now State Governors and agencies from all over the Country are coming
to Aid the South.

PLEASE PLEASE WATCH CNN, AND GIVE THEM SUPPORT AND SEND THEM LETTERS TO SUPPORT THEIR LEVEL OF JOURNALISM AND REPORTING THE TRUTH. WATCH THE INTERVIEW ONLINE THE MAYOR'S INTERVIEW WITH SOLEDAD. CNN HAS BROUGHT IN THEIR WAR CORRESPONDENTS TO COVER THIS ONGOING CRISIS. WE NEED TO SUPPORT THEIR HONESTY. INTERNATIONALLY WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT MEDIA REMAINS ONSITE DOWN IN THE GULF. I CAN NOT EMPHASIZE HOW IMPORTANT IT IS THAT WE SUPPORT THEM. THE HOMELAND SECURITY PLANS FOR SUCH A CATOSTROPHIC EMERGENCY DO NOT ADDRESS ALLOWING OUR MEDIA FREEDOM OF PRESS. THEY ARE TRYING TO BRING US THE SCOPE OF THIS TRAGEDY.AND AS IT BECOMES EVIDENT THAT LITERALLY THOUSANDS ARE DEAD, AND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS MISSING.THE BODY COUNT WILL BE HORRIFIC. THIS IS OF TSUNAMI PROPORTIONS.

CONSIDER THIS:FEMA HAS CHANGED THEIR 800 NUMBER THREE TIMES THIS WEEK- THIS IS NOT A WORKING SYSTEM.
FEMA IS PREVENTING THE DIFFERENT RESCUE AND RECOVERY PEOPLE FROM DOING THEIR JOB, THEY ARE EVEN PREVENTING RED CROSS AND SALVATION ARMY FROM PROVIDING CARE. ( READ ARTICALES AT TRUTHOUT)

TO START DO GO TO CCN ONLINE AND READ ALL OF DR.GUPTA'S ACCOUNTS.READ ALL THE REPORTERS EYE WITNESS ACCOUNTS. KEEP IN MIND ANDERSON COOPER HAS WORKED HORRIFIC HUMAN DISASTERS INCLUDING SOMALIA AND ROWANDA- HE KNOWS HOW HORRIFIC THIS IS AND HE IS ASKING THE QUESTIONS THAT ALL OF US WISH SOMEONE WOULD ASK.

PLEASE ALSO READ TRUTHOUT
PLEASE ALSO READ BBC- THEY HAVE SOME AMAZING STORIES

WE AS AMERICANS NEED TO BE INVOLVED WITH THIS CRISIS , RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW.
THOUSANDS OF LIVES DEPEND ON THIS.

We must all try to focus on providing comfort and support to those effected. We all have monthes to work together to get them the much needed help and resources we know they need. We also know that the FEDS have failed on this mission miserably. We as citizens ALL need to do what we can to help our neighbors in the South. We are at a Critical Juncture in American History.

The Katrina Survivors have had harrowing experiences and yes sadly they are refugees now. Refugees is an interesting term.
Under International laws these people that had no way to escape and nowhere to go should have been provided and protected in a more responsible manner by our leadership and the Federal Government. The Officials lied and lied all week, and those lies did cause deathes throughout the Gulf Area. But first we need to get them medical care, shelter, clothes, food and water. Medical care will also have to include psychological care and support, many have horrific tales, adn the Convention Center and Dome people have a whole other set of horrors to contend with. These people will have PTSD.
And we will need to ask the President to bring troops, especially the Guard Home to take care of the South. But now
we need to focus on saving as many as possible.

Many were Abandoned to Die this week, We need to take care of ALL the Survivors, and we may not like it but now indeed, hundred of thousands are Refugees. Under International Law, they are Refugee that should have been protected and then cared for in this Horrific National Catostrophe. And the States are already starting to organize and prioritize how to help all of these people get medical care, housing, education and food. It will be up to all of us to pitch in.

This Blog for atleast next month will be some very specific Focuses as this Crisis Unravel, it is not a Political Issue, this is a Human Issue. As a nurse of 20 yrs. with Disaster Training and Experience I will be working with the following listed below. My speciality is Environmental Forensics and it's effects on mass numbers - it is time to offer my services in any way possible to contribute helping our neighbors in the South.
(1) Red Cross (local): assisting with Displaced Persons
(2) Salvation Army: Logistics
(3) All of my spare time I will be gathering supplies to send to send to Veterans For Peace down in Louisiana.
Please go to Words Light Fires to learn more of the needed supplies.

On Thursday Night after spending days and nights on the phone and computer attempting to get help for people in the South, trying to get Water delivered, get Food Dropped, Get Air and Boat Rescue there, Get Hospitals Evac'd. As a Citizen, a Nurse, I used every resource I could find. FEMA has been decimated, DHHS the same, EPA the same, ALL of these are needed to work a Disaster. The Offices of Emergency Response and Preparedness- decimated. Please understand I am a nurse that has extensive Red Cross Disaster training, which like many of us I updated after 9-11, and then I even took related FEMA training. Before that I have all levels of experience: ER/EMT,PEDS&PICU, AIDS&CANCER etcetc.I have worked disasters. I can tell you that this Disaster has been mishandled since The Whitehouse and Mr.Bush signed the Emergency Authorization on Saturday August 26th, 2005.I would love to know if it was signed before or after the Golf and Cake in Arizona. And yes, I do not understand HOW the president waited days to fly over and did not get them the help they needed. And I don't understand HOW the Leader could wait until Day 5 of this Disaster to come to the scene. The World is Horrified- and we all should be.
We as a Country should not allow the Government's Failure to bring Shame to the rest of us.

All of these departments merged under Homeland Security and when that happened things did fall apart. All of this will need HUGE over haul. So I as a nurse am going to put my logistical skills and knowledge to better use. I have definently given up trying to call the Federal Government to do their job. And I now know that my FEMA training was a sad joke.

Thursday night I called FEMA one more time at 4am, I was put to a very nice lady, she and I talked. I again voiced my concerns of the week, I told her I was glad to reach a human, I was grateful. I told her I was worried sick about the people stranded with no food or water, and the hospitals, I said well who do I call about rescue, and Air drops. It seemed so simple.
She said "You can call the White House". I said "Isn't there anyone else?..ANYONE? WE ARE GOING TO LOSE 1000'S IN Louisiana ?" And then we discussed options" Call WHOEVER you think will help, outside media, anyone, Louisana is now depending on all of you to help them, there is no one else." She said. And I said "Fine , I am contacting the International Community, and outside media"And then we both just sat in the Grim 4am dark and cried, and I know both of us were praying for people in the South. And yes , Friday I started that process in Earnest. This is not just about NOLA, there are 1000's effected in Mississippi and Alabama as well, thousands of displaced, wounded and sick in Rural areas, that seem as forgotten and forsaken as the people of New Orleans. The Poor of this Country are invisible to the White House.
But it is not just the Poor, it is also the Elderly, families, disabled, women and children, and infirmed. It is not just a Race issue. 1000's of people were and are Disenfranchised in this country, and hopefully there is still time to repair this Horrendous Disaster. But Folks we all have to be honest- 1000's were Abandoned. ABANDONED IN AMERICA TO DIE.

I even have proof that FEMA turned down MEDI-VAC services that could have saved 1000's.
I called Beer Companies that wanted to send water- but they could not get FEMA to answer of let them.
Another example :::: Tenet Hospital is NOW evac'd in downtown New Orleans. Also the Tenet Corporation has rescued ALL of their Hospitals in the Gulf region. It sounds like they organized their own evacuation of patients and staff.

As a citizen I am asking you to look in your hearts and decide how you can help. I am sorry but giving to Red Cross
may not be enough this time, it will take more than Money to fix this Disaster. And yes, later Questions and Investigations
will have to ensue. And yes, Certain Responsible parties will have to face the Music and their Fates. We as Americans need to make certain that this Never happens again.

NEW BLOG: http://nolacare.blogspot.com/, will be up fully tonight.
This blog will still focus on issues related to Concern about this country and Katrina updates. I have created a new Blog related more to issues related to Refugees and Refugees Caretaker Issues, as well as the Pending Health Crisis that we face.
I started this because I was watching people trying to help and the reporters down in the NOLA Zone and I realized no one is telling them of the Hazardous Health Risks of what they are walking around in, is a Toxic Cesspool full of waste, corpses, and sewage. It will also have advice and support for people who are going to the area to render services and care. I explored what advice and care is being offered to those in the area. This is a Human Crisis that will have Huge Health Implications.
