Godfather of Soul has left the Building...

James Brown - I Feel Good

James Brown, Godfather of Soul, died today on Christmas at 73, hospitalized with pneumonia. The Pompadour, the hoarse raspy vocals, the styling smoothness of he electric gliding legs across the floor....There will be no other James Brown. He was beyond original, he had magic. I somehow think the dramatic part of him would have thought it appropriate that he died on Christmas.....

I feel good! How many times have we howled that James Brown special out? The man knew how to do his thing.

If Elvis was the King, then JB was the Soul in Soul! I find it fitting that a man who gave so much, died on a day of giving.

one of my treasured memories was the day my youngest sister found James Brown among my husband's old college record albums. She went nuts, dancing all around like a soul trainer. Oh & someone should tell Michael Jackson that he did not invent the moonwalk. James was doing it forwards, backwards & sideways decades before. Papa's got a brand new bag! ~~ D.K.

There are some people you never meet whom you still cannot imagine the world without. Mr. Brown was one of them. Luckily, we don't have to imagine the world without him as he lives on in his music. Trite, but true, I think.

I remember seeing James Brown for the first time on TV. I was blown away. As an entertainer, he was absolutely 'kick ass!'

I was in first grade the first time I saw him on TV....I can remember going in my grandmother's kitchen and spraying my shoes with Endust and trying to glide across her linoleum floor.....Cal was there , Cal was my grandmom's maid- but she was family, Cal also introduced me to Aretha and the Twist...so she came in and laughed and said "She Done Lost her Mind !!!!"

( BTW Endust creates a bit too much of a Glide Factor)

But isn't it good to have Musicians make you lose your mind occaionally...I think so.....

and that Kravitz video, WOW....shows how Timeless a Legend he really is....

And with him goes a piece of our lives...but a small price to pay for what he gave us.
