i saw him on Oprah -- where she asked him if he was gonna run in '08 -- he said no

i personally think it's a tad too early for him to run...

people need more exposure to his kindness...we're just not used to an honest politician

Why wait?

Thanks AZ- actually after 6 years of Repug Hell I don't think it is too early....let's start now..I mean actually the Dems won back the House and the Senate- but truthfully many started working on it after Katrina- so that was a full 14 month headstart....But you are right the Honesty is breath-taking isn't it? Staggering....

Spado- So good to see you- haven't seen you in a while....yup- 08 is just in time...I don't think the "Experience" issue is even relevant....( HA?!!!! I mean look at Dubya ).....I think he has Bobby & MLK qualities....

and of course my son is a riot- he walked in & watched YouTube with me- and said "WOW- he can really SPEAK"...( 6-6 has grown up since he was 9 watching the Prez mangle the English Language....so that says it all to him...)

We've become cynical.

After Bush for 6 years who wouldn't be?

I agree it may be too early for him to run, but I'll be very interested in what he'll say and do next.

We've had hope, we just need follow through.

Awwh, I love seeing Obama. Listening to him gives me hope. He's an incredible person with a compelling life story. He has potential greatness within him.

But ... he simply hasn't done enough yet for me to endorse him out-of-hand for President (yeah, I know, look at Dub's prior record). Although the good news is with almost 2-yrs til '08, there is still plenty of time for him to prove himself the best of the field.

I look forward to the public debates dems are famous for, but wonder: why are the pundits pointing to Hillary's great amt of experience vs Obama, when she's only been a senator for *4* lousy yrs longer than him, and I believe that is the first elected office she's held. ~~ D.K.

Normally, I'd say he needs a little more experience, but then I look around......

Hillary will be our death sentence, sure as little apples are green. She will ensure the first 100% turnout in the history of the GOP. We would do better with Paris Hilton or Britney Spears.

My greatest fear is that, like another great man before him that had so much potential, JFK......... There are so many forces in this country that have so much to lose, should honesty ever occupy that office.....

Yup VB, Future and DK:
ALL you said was absolutely true...what we need is Truth, and Follow Through...and he does need some time and also some momentum. I think Oprah endorsing is signifigant- I know that sounds silly- her giving him her blessings goes a long way...( also cold shoulders Hillary- which I love)....

And I think he has RFK qualities more than JFK....but actually some of each...but he also has MLK and even a little Mandela...... Grace....and Courage.

and I watched him on his trip to Africa- he truly has the ability to Connect to People....

Hmmm Someone said Obama/Edwards 08.....

What does anyone think of Obama/Gore ??? just curious....

I don't think Gore would be interested in another run as VP. I could see Edwards/Obama though. I like Obama very much, he's articulate, balanced and astute. He cares about his constituants. He's good.

I agree with Diva, neither Edwards nor Gore will run as VP. Unlike prez candidates, there are no perennial vp candidates. Has anyone thought that all this obama publicity might really be a bid for vp rather than prez? hate to say it, but what if hillary courts him for vp?

What if edwards & obama got together & announced a joint run early in the game without specifying, refusing to say which is which? wouldn't THAT make for endless press coverage! not to mention it's never been done before. they could even say prez/vp will be decided at the dem convention by the delegates. just a thought ~~ D.K.

Hi Enigma ... Thank You for your tireless work on behalf of those of us who adhere to dececency and civil values which respect the rights of fellow humans beings everywhere.

Whether that message has come from the apostles MLK, Sister Theresa, John Lennon or Pope John Paul you have tried to reflect their views in your posts here and for this I'm grateful

I personally think the best candidate combination in 2008 would be Obama for President and Senator Barbara Boxer as Vice President.

What are your thoughts about this ?

Finally, I would like to wish everyone good will and request they stop by my Blog during the holidays to post their views for achieving peace throughout the world in the coming year in my comment section.

The Cosmic Message

Thanks again for hosting the Cafe. It's truly one of the best blogs on the planet.
