My mom was surely touched by the depression, large Catholic family 11 brothers and sisters, my mom really knew how to stretch a dollar, my dad, he never talked about the depression, or WW2, or maybe we just never got around to it...mom kept stuff for ever, and fixed everything, everything...she used to follow us around the house demanding that we turn off lights in rooms we were not in, this of course sometimes could get a litte crazy...my Dad grew up in a coldwater flat in hell's kitchen (NYC)...I hope we can relearn some truths our parents and grandparents learned from those brutal times...including being kind to one another....

me 2...me2...your folks raised you right- taught you what matters....

( I too was raised that way by different family members taught how to be very very frugal.....and stretch the dollar as far as possible...)

as long as our humanity is intact..that matters...
