Poll Numbers from this week - Media Matters:
The poll found that fully 90 percent of Americans think it is necessary to make "fundamental changes" or "completely rebuild" the health care system. President Obama enjoys a 29-point advantage over congressional Republicans on the question of who has better ideas to reform the system. The percentage of people who think the health care system needs to be fixed now as part of fixing the overall economy has increased in recent weeks, and the percentage who think the US cannot afford to fix health care now has decreased.

Seventy-six percent of Americans consider the rising cost of health care a threat to the nation's economy. Sixty-six percent support the "government offering everyone a government administered health insurance plan - something like the Medicare coverage that people 65 and older get - that would compete with private health insurance plans?" Sixty-five percent support tax increases on "Americans with high incomes" in order to pay for reform.

So nice to talk to you at Rep. Fudge's forum this evening!

Everyone, you missed a great, short, incredibly direct, and well-delivered speech by our bloghost. She was nervous but it didn't show. Nicely done!

I think it's bullshit that we even refer to what we have now as "a system". What we have is such a total haphazard mish mosh of a mess.

Let's not even call it a system.... is really more of a disaster. As another blogger pointed out.... many of those with insurance really don't know if their insurance is any good at all unless or until there is a major medical issue or a catastrophic health event that tops out the policy coverage & then you are basically in medical bankruptcy mode.

Clearly the GOP talking point that is being spewed & recited here is *FREEDOM*....
Wow!!! Freedom to put your health & well being
in the hands of profiteers?
How are these people so easily brainwashed?????

Swing by my blog for a parody laugh, much needed from all this heavy stuff.

Single payer is much better than the Obama plan, but that doesn't mean we should let the astroturfers off the hook.

Friday Noon cpsan:::
Grassley town hall meeting from wed. in a church,
and he is talking about how he prays for Christ because he was sure Jesus would want him to- now this is strange- because the Question was :
"Are the Feds going to take over Our Waters all of our waters"

Then he rambles on how the Laws disrespect the Private property, and that he had a talk with Sotomayer and that she did not respect the rights of private property. ( ??? this sounds like a bunch of hoeey). He is just making shit up....( Obama is a fool to trust this man for 5 minutes).

Now he is saying that His Plan is dangerous- the Public Option is dangerous, now he is making up numbers saying 120 million will op out. The President's Plan is unworkable-he should have not promised it. Now he is talking about some law 1974
and talks about How Small Businesses are going to be in danger in 5 years , because they would not be protected by Self Insured Laws. If you like your insurance you won't be able to keep it.

Out of Pocket Caps and Lifetime Caps Question ?
"we are still talking", He does not know about the Kennedy Bill- he says it is not printed ??? What the hell is he doing- he makes it sound the Govt is hiding bills and data from people." 13-15 % is what I think it is" but what he did not know what

"BLue Cross and Blue Sheild Boards used to be nonprofit" Pediatrician got up and said that he worked for the Original Board inthe 60's, he is siting the CEO"s and Board members making millions, that is why we are spending twice as much as other countries.

"It is great heathcare for people that have insurance- but not for the people that don't have any thing- they have no care. He then went on to tell Horror stories from Texas babies being born without any prenatal care. Then he went on to ramble a smidge that drugs are too expensive. Now he is talking about Afganistan."

( the pediatrician did bring up great points..)

AND now MEdicaid is being bashed by Grassley..shit- he is unreal.

Bottem line- Grassely
